CivilM+, the international NGO platform for conflict resolution in Donbas, urges the German government to use its presidency of the Council of the European Union, that starts today, to give a new impetus to the resolution of the armed conflict in East Ukraine and to strengthen the EU’s Eastern Partnership programme.
The second discussion in the framework of the project “Ost/Wschód: German-Polish Debates on the East” involved the speakers Anna Maria Dyner (Analyst on Belarus, Polish Institute of International Affairs) and Ingo Petz (German journalist, expert on Belarus).

May 8th/9th marks the 75th anniversary of the end of World War II in Europe. On request of the History working group of DRA, experts from Poland, Lithuania, Russia, Croatia, Slovenia/Italy and Germany explain in short video statements what does this commemoration mean to them personally and in their respective countries.

DRA (German-Russian Exchange, www.austausch.org) is looking for a PR and project manager in an international project “Dialogue for understanding and justice”. The appointment will be from 2 January till 31 August 2020 with a possibility of multi-year extension, depending on available further project funding. Full-time or part-time (30-40h/week) is subject to agreement.
On September 27, DRA opened a resource center "Drukarnia" for civil society in Slavyansk (eastern Ukraine). The resource center works to promote international cooperation, joint learning and exchanges.
On September 17 CivivlM+ member DRA organised discussion “Pipelines and frontlines – cooperation and conflict in Eastern Ukraine” with Dr. Sophie Lambroschini, researcher in contemporary history of East-Central Europe at the Marc Bloch Centre in Berlin, Camilla Corradin, People in Need (PIN), Mark Buttle, UNICEF, WASH cluster coordinator, Andrey Klochko, Voda Donbasu and Galina Pavlovskaya, teacher living in a village on the frontline.
On September 7, 2019, 35 people who had been in custody in Russia returned to Ukraine. The list of persons who were in retaliation extradited to Russia suggests the idea that the release of Ukrainian citizens did not occur as an act of goodwill, reconciliation, recognition of the rule of law, or the implementation of the decision of the International Tribunal, but as an act of bargaining, since the Russian leadership was interested in returning to its territory of specific individuals, such as Volodymyr Tsemakh. Moreover, the release of 35 people does not resolve the problem of persons illegally detained in Russia, Crimea and the uncontrolled territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
On November 13 in Kyiv, the CivilM+ platform organises the 2nd International Forum on Donbas “Reintegration in eastern Ukraine – improving the humanitarian situation and enhancing people-to-people contacts with the non-government controlled territories”.
