December 28th, 2017 Andrei Rudomakha and his colleagues were violently attacked in Krasnodar.
Andrey Rudomakha is an activist, manager of the NGO Environmental Watch on North Caucasus (EWNC). He took part at protection of such environmental objects as Bolshoy Thach mountain, was also active against construction of the ski resort "Lagonaki" in the territory of Caucasus Nature Resort.
According to published data, three unknown persons in masks attacked Rudomacha, appropriating all photo and video equipment as well as documents from the victims’ bags. Surveillance cameras registered the attack. Also many bypasses witnessed the accident. The injured leader of the EWNC was hospitalized with a closed craniocerebral injury and a broken nose.
The lack of reaction from public representatives makes many colleagues of Rudomakha concerned that the investigation will be conducted carelessly as it happened earlier with the attack on a group of volunteer firefighters from the EWNC and Greenpeace Russia in 2016.
In this regard, The Working Group "Environment" of the EU-Russia Civil Society Forum issued a statement with the demands of immediate respond to the incident, conduction of a thorough investigation of the attack on the 28th of December and to bring all perpetrators of this and previous assaults to justice, as well as take measures to prevent crimes against civic organizations and activists.
DRA as a member of The Working Group "Environment" of the EU-Russia Civil Society Forum, expresses solidarity with the statement.
