Climate change - we hear everywhere about it: at school, on TV, and radio. Seriously, when was the last time it was really snowing and we could build a proper snowman? Many people seem to worry about climate change, this topic is discussed a lot. After all, climate change will affect youth and future generations the most...
But what can everyone of us do to make our city, school or home more environmentally and climate friendly - especially if you are 14 years old? The answer is - REALLY A LOT! And that is what you can learn from participation in the youth exchange “Small Citizens, Big Deeds” in Neschwitz (Germany, Saxony), October 28 - November 6, 2018.
Activities
You will meet peers from Western Ukraine, who, like you, wish to take action for a climate friendly future. What can you expect?
-you will get to know youth from Ukraine and learn to work in an international team;
-together you will think about the ways to make a personal contribution to a climate friendly future;
-you will meet local environmental activists from Lusatia area and discuss what young people can do for environment and climate protection;
-you learn to develop a concept for and draw a comic, considering a comic as an artistic method to encourage other people to become active in climate protection;
-learn how to develop and implement your idea in your city/school/community.
Eligibility
You can participate if you:
-are from Germany from a small city (up to 50,000 people);
-are between 13 and 18 years old;
-are interested in environmental and climate protection issues and want to broaden your knowledge on these topics;
-are interested in intercultural exchange;
-like to draw comics or want to learn how to draw a comic;
-your English is good enough to read and understand this call for participation (if it seems difficult for you, but you would like to participate, go ahead - we will help you with translation);
-(ideally) have some experience with environment or climate protection (school project, some books or articles you’ve read about this topic).
Program Costs
Participation is free of charge. All costs are covered by the project.
